to strengthen families and to prevent a family problem from becoming a child's problem.

WHAT is Crisis Nursery?

A safe and temporary licensed home available for daytime or overnight care provided by volunteer parents from Mower and Freeborn counties

WHO does Crisis Nursery serve?
Children ages newborn to 12 years

What is a CRISIS?
A personal problem related to health, housing, finances, substance abuse, or an immediate problem such as a funeral, accident, death, or other unexpected stresses

HOW does Crisis Nursery work?
24 hours a day self-referral helps parents identify problems and reach goals/solutions follow-up parenting support evaluate service provided

What's the COST of using the Crisis Nursery?
There is NO CHARGE

How LONG can the Crisis Nursery be used?
Up to 3 days at a time up to 10 times within a 12-month period

WHO cares for the children?
Your children will cared for by a Shelter Home Family; these are families who: live in Mower or Freeborn counties or the surrounding area, have met the State of Minnesota child care or foster care licensing requirements, have continuing education in working with children, and voluntarily open their homes and hearts to children.
